23 Things I’ve Learned In 23 Years

  1. I need God. I can’t do this life on my own. I gotta have faith.

  5. I have a very close, honest relationship with my parents and I shouldn’t let anyone question that or try to sabotage that.
  6. I can’t keep eating like a teenager. The body gets tired after a while.
  7. If I don’t pursue the things I’m passionate about, I will always feel a void. Passion is a type of fire that you can’t put out.
  8. Surrounding myself with like-minded people is so important. It’s good for my mindset, goals, and my heart in general.
  9. I’m not invincible. I was bound to get a speeding ticket at some point.
  10. I can be selfish. Fix that, Ambur. I need to give what I’ve been given and offer to others what I expect out of them.
  11. As much as I love to sleep, sleeping in super late bums me out. It feels like I’ve wasted part of my day.
  12. I need to stop dreaming and start doing.
  13. Ignoring a problem doesn’t make it go away. Sweeping dirt under the rug doesn’t mean it’s gone. In fact, things might get messier.
  14. Some people I just have to love from afar. Things can always get better though.
  15. Yes, I’m fat. No, that doesn’t mean I can’t wear a crop top.
  16. A closed door isn’t always a bad thing. Some doors aren’t meant to be walked through.
  17. There’s no age limit to learning. Life is filled with lessons. Don’t allow pride to block knowledge.
  18. I don’t owe anyone any explanations. This is something I need to continue working on.
  19. Patience and tolerance are vital. They allow me to see the bigger picture. They develop empathy.
  20. A good night’s rest should never be taken for granted and a decent sleep schedule is necessary. Simmer down, party animal.
  21. My laziness is holding me back from things I want to do. No bueno.
  22. I need to commit to self-care.
  23. I start grad school again today. Near the end of last year I said I was done with school. I’ve come far. God is good.
